HA!!

Why am I not surprised? Something dark and brooding with a morbid sense of humor. Quizlet ganked from Terri.

In knitting news, the clogs are done and waiting to be felted, I have a new lovely wooden swift that I want to wind and wind and wind from, and BP1 has begun… I’m about 20 rows in and it’s looking mighty pretty! I’ll show you next week if I can. I’m waiting to hear from the book editor if I’m allowed to blog it, so you may or may not see it until the book is available.

I am in need of some first hand experience advice… have any of you illustrious readers ever blocked something made from 100% bamboo yarn? Can you share your experience? Amy told me that her best guess is to block it like you would tencel (pin out and a spritz), but if someone knows first hand, I’d appreciate hearing it.

I hope you all have a great New Years and be safe and responsible! Don’t drink and knit lace!

Drinking and knitting lace is mighty dangerous… I always have to resort to a simple ribbed sock. I’ll have my socks and Champagne ready…

I’ll second the don’t drink and knit lace! That leads quickly to frogging while hung over.

I knit Branching Out from Knitty with Royal Bamboo, and soaked it in cool water, then pinned and let dry. It worked fine, though needs to be reblocked now that I’ve worn it – it stretched out after a dozen wearings.

Oh geez. I’m “The Godfather”. I’m not sure what that says about me!

A New Year’s Eve knitting motto: if you drink, prepare to tink! :)

And I’m Wuthering Heights. So romantic, ya know.

The Last time I took a movie test like this, I was Mr. Smith Goes to Washington or something, but now I’m Apocalypse Now, just like you! I wonder what’s changed…
; )

Strange, I had the same results as you did. Maybe I need to watch the movie again this eveing….

That’s funny–I came up as “Mr Smith Goes to Washington.” Well, I AM an optimist…..

I’m Schindler’s List. HA! “You put the needs of others before your own….”

I’m Schindler’s List, too. Someday I will work up the courage to watch that movie (Made it all the way through The Pianist. When the Rabbi asked me how I liked it I burst into tears *sigh*).
Happy New Year, Mim.

I buy that you’re a rogue wanderer on the winding river of life, but Apocalype Now is not what pops into my mind when I think of you, Mim!

Don’t drink and knit lace? You mean I’ve been doing it all wrong? NOW you tell me!

Hmm, I was Apocalypse Now, too…

I just sort of blocked a 13 stitch wide arrowhead lace scarf from SWTC bamboo. I soaked it in water and Orvus for a few hours, then wrapped it in a towel to absorb most of the moisture. Then I steamironed the bejeezus out of it. :) I didn’t like the texture to start with, so I figured ironing could only help. It seemed to.

I blocked a dream swatch head wrap (designed by Wendy of Knit and Tonic) that I knit out of Plymouth Yarn Royal Bamboo (100% bamboo). It has a very slight lace pattern in it. I just did it the blocking what I believe to be the typical way… soaked in water then pinned out and let dry. Pictures at:

I had a good experience and no troubles with the blocking. The bamboo seemed to hold the shape well immediately after blocking. I gave the scarf away as a gift though so I can’t tell you how it held up after use.

I got ‘Wuthering Heights’. Bleh.
