Babies, Babies EVERYWHERE!

Is it just me or is everyone pregnant?! There are a ton of people in blogland, and a ton of people IRL just popping out the babies!

Most of the time I tend to think that the mother is neglected in favor of the coming child (for instance, people ask a mother-to-be how the BABY is, not how SHE is. Kind of makes me nuts), but occasionally I just feel compelled to make something lovely to welcome a little baby into the world.

Before the shawl finishing and pattern layout madness took over my brain and killed my wrists, I whipped up a pair of Saartje’s Booties for one of the many gestating women. I know she reads this blog, so I won’t say who she is.

Pattern: Saartje’s Booties (and on Ravelry).
Yarn: Some leftover sport weight superwash wool from Scout in a colorway that I’m not sure was ever named, but it was shades of blue with lovely hints of gray.
Size: I made the larger size
Needles: 3.25 mm, US 3.
Verdict: I love them, and C, who usually is ambivalent at best toward all things baby actually grinned and commented on how cute they were. I knit them on a larger needle with heavier yarn because I had heard about this pattern running small and I’m glad I did. My favorite part is the buttons, they’re just PERFECT and they take on the color of the yarn around them. In fact, I bought about 30 of them at the fabric store because I love them so much.

Adorable! A woman at knitting group was making a pair this week, too, and the pattern is really terrific.
I’m on chart 3 of Aspen Grove now. Woot!

They’re so pretty! A perfect combination of pattern, yarn, and buttons.

Aw, they are cute! I seriously think something is in the water everywhere. I just found out about my SEVENTH pregnant friend the other day. And I only have like 10 friends!

So cute! These are on my must make list before my little one gets here :)

Awwww. That color is so classic too, and I also love the buttons.

Is it a Spring thing? There is a baby explosion here too. Years ago, I mentioned to a pregnant friend that her baby had really grown over the past week. She immediately burst into tears. She was so relieved to have someone acknowledge that it was the baby growing and not her growing fat. Since that time, I have made sure to comment on how hard, or what good work the mama has done in ‘growing that baby”.

so cute. it’s not you. everyone is pregnant. i’m knitting for four co-workers now, and i’m so behind on all of their projects.

It’s not just U ~ it’s just Utah! Heh.

So cute! I’ve noticed the same thing recently–a local baby boom!

I dunno. Maybe it’s you, but I most certainly am not pregnant. =P
Myself excepted, it does seem that there are a large number of swollen bellies around lately…maybe that means it’s spring?
Love the booties. Hard not to love teeny-weeny knit things.

Yes, I know a passel ‘o pregnant ladies right now, too. And I feel compelled to make a little something nice for the new moms, because the babies do get most of the goodies.

I waited until today to visit the blog so I would be surprised. THANK YOU MIRIAM! I love the booties, and I’m sure the bean will too :).

I love this pattern. And to answer your question, yes, everyone is pregnant! Well, almost everyone… ;)
